All her wishes would come true
This piece has two of my favorite things - superstitions and my recurring character, Abigail. Instead of having to wish on each dandelion, the wind is blowing them for her, the world is answering her wishes before she even makes them. The character of Abigail began with my interest in how common winged people and bird people are through religions, myths, folklore... and over time shes become one of my favorite things to paint. I’ve painted her when she first became a bird woman, when she joined the circus and had a family, learned to fly, sailed the seas and while she isn’t always the happiest of characters (I imagine it would be hard for her to be okay with her fate) there’s a strength to her that makes me feel her wishes would all come true.
